Conceptualizes, designs and produces all phases of multi-channel marketing materials including print, digital and social media to support US product and program launches. Collaborates with internal creative team to design and execute projects to meet strategic business needs, objectives, and to maximize best practices across all channels. Creates effective layouts and graphic design solutions with guidance from supervisor, including design layouts, photography, illustration, social media, web assets, copy presentation, coordinating photographers, illustrators, selecting and guiding freelance staff and generating final project deliverables. Presents and sells ideas and designs to Sr. Art Director for approval before presenting to upper management and Project Owners.  



Art Direction and Design: Concepts, designs, art directs, manages and produces projects that drive sales and recruiting for the US market. Translates marketing goals into compelling, brand enhancing concepts and designs that meet U.S. market needs in a fresh, unique way while maintaining the Mary Kay brand voice.

• Attends project briefing meetings

• Cooperates with the rest of the creative team across different types of media

• Generates clear ideas and concepts in tandem with the copywriter

• Produces sketches, storyboards, wireframes, roughs to visualize ideas

• Produces finished layout designs

• Presents completed ideas to clients/team members and to internal clients

• Works with the client to address any concerns or comments and get client approval of project

• Takes work from concept to final execution while maintaining internal processes, budgets, and timelines for each project

Projects can include: fliers, brochures, cards, prize items, interior decor/designs, company event support materials, product marketing launches, internal incentive campaigns, e-catalogs, email content, website content for InTouch and MaryKay.com, social media content and more.


• Creates concepts and works with art buyer to produce internal and external photoshoots, including choosing photographers, models, wardrobe, stylists and locations. edit, markup and working with retouching team through final approval of images.

• Produces social media content to support projects including scheduling time with social media expert, creating shot list, product pull list, scheduling internal studio and photographer, art directing shot and approving retouched images.          

Project Management:

• Responsible for meeting project objectives and deadlines while balancing priorities of multiple projects.

• Partners closely with internal groups to align project objectives for multiple projects and campaigns.

• Reviews production process including budget, objectives and means, tracking and managing expenses and time spent to make adjustments to stay within budget or lower costs.   

Marketing and Brand Strategy:

• Stays up-to-date on latest trends and advances in design, art direction by attending seminars and classes, reading publications about digital trends, and frequently study competitive work in the marketplace.

• Understands US marketing initiatives, strategic positioning and target audience and deliver creative solutions appropriate to strategy.

• Maintains thorough knowledge of Mary Kay brand guidelines and deliver creative solutions that meet Mary Kay brand guidelines.

• Maintains graphic consistency across all channel deliverables within a campaign.           


• Reviews work with Manager for feedback, problem solving and alternative solutions to marketing objectives.

• Develops and expands leadership and trust skills through training, applying learnings to day-to-day interactions with creative, marketing and management partners.

• Manages contract staffing when needed, providing guidance on content, process and managing workload.      


Education: Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, Communication Arts, Advertising Art or equivalent

Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a design-related occupation. For print, graphic design and production or photo art direction. For digital: e-commerce design, interactive art direction, site architecture, functionality solutions, interactive animation, and site concept.

1. Must have advanced knowledge of the following software applications:  Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and working knowledge of other Adobe products such as Bridge and XD is preferred. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

2. Must have expert knowledge of layout, graphic design, art direction, and working knowledge of mechanical art, and print production.

3. Must have advanced knowledge of basic digital UX and UI design principles and have experience developing creative for various digital platforms such as responsive design platforms, E-Catalogs, Websites, Aps, and Social Media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.  

4. Must maintain awareness of the latest trends and technologies involved in creative art preparation for print and digital.

5. Requires basic troubleshooting skills for computer software/hardware problems that may occur, including applications, printers, networking, etc. Must organize, prioritize, and carry out multiple assignments without direct supervision.

6. Excellent project management skills in order to direct a number of creative projects simultaneously. Must be able to complete projects within budget and approved time frames.

7. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required in order to interact and partner with creative partners, vendors and management.
