Asst Scientist Quality Control Analytical
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or equivalent, plus experience listed below.
Experience: 1-3 years of experience working in an analytical chemistry environment. Certification as an American Society for Quality – Certified Quality Technician preferred.
1. Must have the ability to apply standard research practices and techniques, compile and correlate experimental data, recognize discrepancies in test results, and follow tests and experimentations through a series of well-defined steps. Must have the ability to test raw materials, bulk samples, and finished products to ensure conformance with established specifications, use good laboratory techniques, and solve analytical quality control problems through well-defined steps.
2. Must possess oral and written communication skills necessary to instruct Technicians, communicate test results, and work effectively within and outside of the department.
3. Must possess knowledge of the theory and operation of gas chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, FTIR, etc. as well as knowledge of Good Analytical Laboratory Techniques and statistical process controls in order to sample and test product and perform basic analytical lab duties.
4. Must have “average discrimination” based on the Farnsworth-Munsell Hue Test in order to visually distinguish colors; must also be able to distinguish fragrances.
5. Must possess the manual dexterity required to perform tests on materials and manipulate instruments.
6. Must have a good understanding of Microbiology, Chemistry and modern laboratory instrumentation to make sound decisions based on the technical information available.
7. Must have a thorough understanding of FDA regulations and current Good Manufacturing Practices.
8. Must have an understanding of the relationship between the values and goals of the organization to the quality control function.
