Asst Scientist Skin & Clinical Research
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education BA/BS degree in the Life Sciences or related fields.
Experience 1-3 yrs experience in scientific research in disciplines relevant to skin research.
Must have technical skills (knowledge and practical experience) in human biology, biochemistry, histology, statistical analysis, and cell culture methodologies.
1. Must possess a basic knowledge of chemistry and biochemistry and have the ability to use standard biochemistry equipment, make solutions, enter data into a computer, and perform statistical analysis of experimental results
2. Proficient in experimental design, protocol writing and interpret results. Must be able to apply standard scientific principles, concepts and techniques to develop, design and interpret scientific studies
3. Knowledge and/or experience with multiple cell and molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to protein analysis, enzymes assays, and ELISA is desired.
4. Proficient understanding of Good Laboratory Practice guidelines and CDC laboratory standards.
5. A general understanding of mammalian cell biology; experience in skin biology is beneficial.
6. Efficient writing and Microsoft office skills, including MS word EXCEL worksheets. Must possess or develop strong written and oral communication skills in order to write complete, grammatically-correct reports and memos, effectively interact with co-workers, supervisor, management, other MKI technical groups, and outside vendors to achieve success on project goals.
7. Ability to perform duties under direction and independently perform assignments with only general criteria for expected results.
8. Must be able to operate a wide variety of lab equipment use in biological/biochemical research and be aware of and recommend biological/biochemical techniques and their availability from outside test laboratories.
9. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must be detail-oriented.
10. Must possess interpersonal skills to effectively work with other members of a team to accomplish group goals.
