  JOB SUMMARY

Under direct supervision and following safety procedures, utilizes a forklift and an electric pallet jack to perform tasks associated with the moving of bulk, components, containers, and other related items between storage locations and the processing production floor. May unload goods from trucks and perform system tasks associated with moving goods from one location to another. Material is moved to/from the processing floor. Contributes to ensuring safe working practices are followed and contributes ideas to simplify and standardize the workplace. Shares ownership in achieving world class performance and continuous improvement of production. Accountable for helping to achieve strategies and goals of becoming the world class, low cost/high quality producer of choice.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Provides operational support to processing by ensuring proper delivery, staging, and timely delivery, as well as removal of bulk, containers, waste, and supplies in a timely manner in order to support production schedules. Retrieves batches from Central Weigh and places them in the appropriate place on the processing floor. Uses a battery-operated pallet jack to move filled IBCs to the designated storage location. Moves empty IBCs to the cleaning staging area. Transports filled waste drums to the appropriate location. Contributes to inventory accuracy by completing system transactions to record material movement and is responsible for the accuracy of those transactions. Provides service to internal customers and suppliers by providing high level of customer service. During completion of all daily tasks, follows established 6S processes.
  • Assists in unloading materials for processing or MFG stockroom and storing them in designated locations or delivering them to department owners. Responsible for the timely supply and hookup of cleaning solutions to Sanitation. Keeps the processing floor stocked with storage containers, liners, and pallets.
  • Communicates with warehouse personnel as well as other interface groups to coordinate efforts required to provide processing vessels with materials, ensures all finished goods and material returns are in the appropriate place, and ensures equipment is maintained. Assists with training team members and temporary personnel to ensure quality standards, as defined by the department, are met. Engaged in process improvement activities such as scrap reduction and improved throughput.
  • Participates in visual management initiatives to share safety and production targets/actuals with teams and management. Takes process water samples for Micro and QC and documents water sampling log book. Performs sanitizer titration at the beginning of each shift and documents as appropriate. Maintains cleanliness by following approved work instructions for sanitation room cleaning and maintains order in the sanitation and storage rooms to minimize micro-contamination exposure.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned, including but not limited to sanitation, housekeeping and other special assignments. Participates in safety job safety analysis (JSA), and various lean activities and events including but not limited to 6S, problem solving, and 5 Why etc. Follows established recycling practices.

12 hrs/day - Wednesday - Friday (36 hrs/week)
Work schedule - 5:50 AM - 6:20 PM

Skills & Experience:
Education: High School diploma or Equivalent
Experience: 3+ years of warehouse forklift experience

Additional Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to read and understand instructions, write and speak using basic language skills, interpret and follow all safety, training, operational procedures, and all other regulatory requirements associated with the job function.
  • Must have basic math skills as demonstrated by successfully passing a math test in order to calculate and verify materials and quantities being moved to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Must continuously demonstrate the ability to safely drive the forklift and operate an electric pallet jack within the manufacturing site, and be able to maintain forklift certification requirement.
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 1,200 lbs. with assistance, using a manual pallet jack, to move kettles, tanks, totes and drums into and out of the processing floor.
  • Must be able to stand and walk approximately 95% of the time in order to move material and supply processing vessels with raw materials and supplies using the forklift and/or pallet jack.
  • Must have the ability to frequently walk in order to move about production and warehouse areas; must be able to occasionally move or lift up to 20 kilos in order to stack and transport materials and containers.
  • Must be able to stoop, crouch, kneel, push, pull and reach in order to check pallets, push and pull skids using a pallet jack, and work around product.
  • Must be able to routinely climb step ladders and platforms to collect samples or stock supplies.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Must be able to use a personal computer, RF device, and other systems to perform transactions, generate labels, and perform other tasks as required by the job.
  • Shift or schedule change may be necessary due to changing business needs.
