JOB PURPOSE:

Accountable for ensuring Company compliance with local, state, federal, and international regulations associated with manufacturing and marketing of cosmetics, OTC products and devices. Serves as a project leader and an in-house expert on difficult regulatory questions and provides guidance for other staff members. Investigates and applies novel or state-of-the-art solutions to regulatory issues that directly impact long-term divisional and Company goals and objectives. Reviews departmental processes and procedures and recommends changes or improvements. Responsible for the training and supervision of selected Regulatory personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.            Plans and executes complex and difficult projects requiring advanced levels of regulatory knowledge and experience and an understanding of the inter-relationship of the project with all working groups within the organization. Investigates and applies novel or state-of-the-art solutions to regulatory issues that directly impact long-term divisional and Company goals and objectives. Focus is on minimizing negative impact on projects while ensuring Company compliance with local, state, federal, and international regulations associated with manufacturing and marketing products.

2.            Supports product registration for global markets ensuring compliance is met according to country’s regulations and within the established project timeline.

3.            Remains abreast of all applicable laws and regulations and utilizes this knowledge to provide optimum benefits to Mark Kay Inc. Assesses new or updated global regulations for changes and challenges and determines impact on the business, providing timely alerts. Works in coordination with International subsidiaries and Legal team to provide timely and accurate feedback on the Regulatory impact to Management.

4.            Serves as a Regulatory Affairs department leader to:

•             provide expertise, support projects and actively interact with other departments as required to ensure successful attainment of objectives and deadlines;

•             plan, develop, coordinate and supervise the activities and training of selected Regulatory personnel to ensure the completion of projects and assignments within established deadlines;

•             develop and implement new processes to improve department efficiency, effectiveness, and flexibility.

5.            Completes assigned project responsibilities independently or in support of a project team, communicating plans, results, and issues promptly to maximize team success. Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives of assigned Regulatory projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Education:            

BA/BS, MS/MA or PhD in Regulatory Affairs or a related discipline

Experience:

5+ years of experience.

1.            Must have an advanced understanding of FDA and global regulatory requirements. Knowledge of the cosmetic industry is recommended.

2.            Must be able to develop solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Out of the box thinking.

3.            Position requires high degree of confidentiality and ethics.

4.            Excellent oral and written communication skills are required in order to interact with various levels of personnel within and outside the Company to solve technical problems and to prepare formal written reports.

5.            Ability to perform duties under very general direction and independently perform assignments with only general criteria for expected results and exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objective of assignments.
