Job Purpose: 

Utilizing Mary Kay Inc.’s Business Systems (WMOS/PkMS/JDE), responsible for the administration, coordination and expeditious processing of product orders to provide quality support to the independent sales force. Manages the activities of the Distribution Center, responsible for warehousing, distribution, data processing, distribution assembly, inventory control, and administrative functions to ensure the accurate and timely processing and shipment of product orders to the sales force.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Operations:

  • Develops, implements and evaluates shipping, warehousing, assembly, and order filling operations to ensure effective control of regional warehouse productivity. Formulates plans to meet current and future capacity and productivity objectives. Projects and recommends capital budget expenditures and staffing levels. Monitors costs and implements controlling measures to meet profitability goals and objectives.
  • Manages a computerized assembly line order filling and shipping system. Determines warehouse layout, space utilization, and pick line configuration. Identifies priorities and provides tactical, work scheduling, and planning directions to Team Leads to ensure timely order processing, adjusting as needed for fluctuating order volume.
  • Manages the Mary Kay Inc. supply chain system for the branch distribution center - Warehouse Management System (WMOS - PkMS), that utilizes radio frequency technology and interfaces with JDE order processing system. Provides leadership to staff to see that all daily reviews required to manage the order fulfillment and inventory aspects within the WMS system are fully utilized.
  • Manages the shipping, receiving and storage of materials and products and maintenance of records which accurately reflect inventory levels. Ensures adequate inventory is on hand, interfacing with Corporate Warehouse as needed. Recommends and selects vendors for shipping containers and packing materials, as well as service providers based on evaluation of bids and quality of products. Makes purchasing decisions for materials based on quality performance and cost-efficient warehouse operations.

Safety and Quality:

  • Directly responsible for the overall quality performance of all warehouse operations. Establishes ongoing criteria for acceptable quality standards and productivity levels within the warehouse based on continuous improvement strategy and corporate goals and objectives. Leads employees in developing programs and incentives to achieve desired quality objectives and continuous improvement. 
  • Develops, implements, and maintains safety and injury prevention program. Plans and maintains physical facilities necessary to ensure adequate and effective operations. Directs the maintenance of building, grounds, and equipment. Oversees the security of the building and all resources and monetary receipts and ensures the provision of a safe working environment for employees.

People:

  • Interviews and recommends the selection of applicants for supervisory and key jobs within the warehouse. Trains, develops, and motivates staff to achieve optimal productivity. Reviews quality control reports to keep abreast of order pulling efficiency and accuracy to ensure production goals and objectives are being met. Leads comprehensive employee-involvement-oriented quality and team-building programs in the office and warehouse with the objective of continuous improvement in all phases of order processing and fulfillment activities.

Leadership:

  •  Interfaces with other managers and Customer Service Representatives to identify and investigate complaints received and to develop specific action plans to eliminate complaints and errors. Acts upon Consultant complaints, issues, and problems.
  • Develops and motivates a proactive leadership team capable of exercising creativity in satisfying the needs of the team, maintaining a growth mindset.
  • Grows and develops every employee in the facility, making sure that the team is engaged, satisfied, helps each other, and works together.
  • Develops, plans and prepares annual operating budgets. Monitors monthly operating costs and implements controlling measures to ensure fiscal objectives are attained. Reviews department expenses, resolves discrepancies, and authorizes payment of invoices. Prepares budget reports for upper management and provides monthly variance reports as required by Finance.

Education and Experience:

Education:  Bachelor's/University Degree

Education Focus: Supply Chain, Business, or related fields 

Experience: 7+ years of distribution warehouse, inventory management, and/or materials management experience, and 2+ years of supervisory experience 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills to effectively manage the distribution center warehouse activities and train and motivate staff.
  • Ability to utilize courtesy and tact in interactions with department and Company personnel in the exchange of information and resolution of problems.
  • Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to effectively plan, organize, and control all distribution warehouse activities.
  • Ability to analyze the financial impact of alternative operating strategies, including changes in labor processes, capital equipment, data processing systems, and services provided by vendors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential for interfacing with the independent sales force, other departments throughout the Company, and vendors
  • Must have high proficiency in Microsoft Office to effectively utilize Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook to compose correspondence and communications, develop and maintain spreadsheets and reports, and analyze data and make presentations.
  • Experience should include a strong working knowledge of warehouse systems, order fulfillment processes, and staff supervision in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  •  Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS, JDE, Lightning Pick, Bastion, TMS, Tableau
  • The ability to lead both tactical execution and process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong team player
  • Out of town travel to company events and to the outlying branches may be required occasionally
