Responsible for fulfilling the purpose, scope, and objectives of an Order Filler I in addition to recommends methods to improve order filling efficiency and trains and monitors work methods of Order Fillers. Rotates into other positions in the warehouse with increased responsibility. Maintains goodwill by performing service-related activities and actively pursuing Golden Rule Service. Performs duties and responsibilities as directed based on business needs and in accordance with work instructions and accepted standards.
Picks product orders utilizing computerized pick-to-light system which indicates what items to pick and how many, and into which box they are to be placed. Picks with care ensuring order contains correct items, accurate quantities, and proper arrangement. Works with minimal supervision to move from task to task. Documents order filling progress of new or contract employees. Orientates new Order Fillers or temporary labor by acclimating them to work area, explaining Company procedures, and demonstrating proper methods of filling and packing orders. Exhibits and supports Mary Kay Golden Rule Service philosophy toward all personnel. Monitors work methods of trained order filler/packers; demonstrates proper methods of filling orders to improve efficiency. Retrains employees who are not meeting performance expectations, reports quality and efficiency progress to supervisor. Makes suggestions to improve order filling efficiency such as whether product should be banded or bagged, recommending items be moved to more accessible shelves for better throughput, easier reach, etc. Recommends these changes to Supervisor/Coordinator who determines if changes are warranted and should be included in training manual. Assists Supervisor/Coordinator in establishing criteria to measure trained Order Fillers. Assists with housekeeping as needed. Assists with additional projects or assumes additional duties as needed.

Rotates regularly into Line Starter role. Sets the initial pace of the pick-to-light system. Maintains continuous production flow of orders onto the pick line by inducting waves of orders as directed by Supervisor/Coordinator. Communicate with box maker to ensure an adequate supply of the appropriate type and size box for the wave being inducted. Identifies and selects proper box from feed line. Places shipping label in appropriate area of carton. Matches label to pick ticket and places pick ticket into appropriate carton. Places prepared carton onto conveyor for filling.

Rotates regularly into the QC Inspector role. Inspects filled orders as directed depending on order type, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. At a minimum inspects all cartons routed from check weigh station that are out of weight tolerance range. Utilizes warehouse management (WM) system and scanner technology. Ensures accuracy against picking ticket by removing all items from carton and checking for correct item, correct quantity, and arrangement of products. Randomly selects other cartons for inspection as volume allows. Reports any inventory related issues and discrepancies to the Supervisor/Coordinator. Performs other duties as required including training new employees, combining cartons to save transportation/supply costs, and processing Customer Delivery Service (CDS) orders, no charges/product replacement (PRP) orders, and keeps the work area clean and orderly. Documents errors found in processed cartons and identifies Order Filler/Packer responsible for error. May have Order Filler/Packer sign error report. Corrects all errors found. Repacks all inspected orders as needed. Maintains various reports on a daily or weekly basis as needed. Incumbent is responsible for meeting all production/quality expectations as defined for this job.

Rotates regularly into the Shipping Clerk role. Utilizes warehouse management (WM) system and scanner technology. Weighs and scans each carton bar code into WM shipping system. Works at a fast pace to ensure shipping cartons do not back up and stop pick line production. Attention to detail is required to separate UPS, USPS (Mail Innovations), and UPS Surepost cartons to appropriate areas for shipment. Responsible for understanding the bundling and strapping of multiple carton orders of the same footprint and adjusting the shipping label and the information in WM to reflect bundling in order to maximize potential savings whenever possible. Bundling/strapping cartons represents a significant reduction in UPS costs. Could load and stack approximately 2,500 cartons per shift onto UPS trailers in a uniform manner as to cube the truck for maximum load capacity, increase load stabilization, and reduce carton damage. If applicable, sorts and separates overseas shipments by destination. Sorts and verifies documentation for accuracy and compliance for each destination. Stacks shipments by destination for shipper pickup. Prepares air freight bills and manifests for air freight shipment. Closes and prepares manifests for UPS and USPS/Mail Innovations. Distributes pertinent paperwork to appropriate area (i.e. driver label, UPS, USPS manifests). Uploads manifests to carriers at specific times of the day to increase customer service visibility into the UPS tracking system. Performs miscellaneous duties as required, including preparing Starter Kits for shipment, maintaining equipment such as the strapping machine and maintains a clean work environment.

Work experience and skill must be at such a level that peers value their observations and feedback when training and sharing ideas for suggested improvement. Ability to take on and be responsible for peer leadership and interaction with management is important in this role. Ability to build trust and respect with both peers and management team through interactions.
Must be able to learn and retain knowledge required to perform activities and transactions in Mary Kay Inc. business systems for all roles and responsibilities included in job description.
Must possess (or acquire) and maintain company provided DOT Hazmat certification for domestic shipments; and if applicable, IATA Hazmat certification for international air shipments.
Must demonstrate excellent time management skills and ability to function in fast-paced and fast-changing work environment.
Must be able to focus on assigned tasks and accurately execute on a consistent basis.
Must be able to demonstrate good problem-solving skills to identify issues in quality, inventory, and training.
Must be able to read and write to read part numbers on pick line and write down numbers during physical inventory. Good verbal communication skills required to train employees in order filling methods, to communicate with other areas within the warehouse regarding tasks being completed and the status of orders, as well as work well with and for others within the department and the Company.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision to move from task to task without supervisor prompting.
Must have good manual dexterity to pick orders and pack product in shipping cartons, and good visual acuity required in order to ensure product and part numbers are correctly placed into cartons and packed properly.
Must be able to pass a basic math test including addition, subtraction, and simple multiplication and division to demonstrate correct method of order filling to new employees by picking and packing appropriate quantity of product into boxes.
Must be able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 35 lbs. and occasionally lift objects weighing up to 60 lbs. while in the Shipping Clerk role.
Must be able to work in an environment that requires strenuous physical activity 80% of the work shift while in the Shipping Clerk role.
Must have the ability to continuously walk and stand to pick orders; push, pull, and reach to remove product from slot in pick bay and pick product on upper shelves; frequently stoops to pick items on lower shelves of pick bay; and lifts to load prepacks.
Must be able to maintain an attendance record in good standing. More specifically, incumbent is required to meet all "Attendance and Punctuality" guidelines as specified in Employee Handbook and is expected to know and follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures.
