Job Summary:

Under general direction and guidance, supports, coordinates and/or performs activities that evaluate consumer preferences during product development. Responsible for a range of activities, with some guidance from supervisor, for study design, execution, data analysis, report writing, presentation of findings, and general project management. Has a basic understanding of sensory testing, product testing and/or market research. Communicates effectively with peers, management, external vendors, and professional associations. Communicates effectively with coworkers in international markets.

About the Role:

1.            Applies standard practices and techniques using basic critical thinking skills to design, execute, and analyze results of sensory/consumer testing required during the development of new products while interfacing with other departments and reporting project status to supervisor. Seeks consultations from peers or supervisor on non-standard or new techniques. Resolves low to moderate complexity problems independently and involves supervisor for high complexity or multifunctional problems. Works under general direction from supervisor to generates summary report, including recommendations and next steps, and presents findings to project team or limited audience.

2.            Participates in activities and projects to support innovation through sensory/consumer testing. Demonstrates openness to diverse thinking to support objectives through suggestion and/or development of alternative methods/processes/testing tools, with implementation support from supervisor.

3.            Collaborators within portions of the organization to build productive partnerships and listens to understand partners. Beings to influence project direction and seek alignment through utilization of data and reasoning. Manages conflict resolution among peers with some guidance from supervisor.

4.            Demonstrates personal leadership through participation in personal development activities (i.e., trainings, professional associations, etc.), informal mentoring, managing completion of individual tasks on time.

Skills & Experience:

Education:  Bachelor Degree in Sensory, Chemistry, Psychology, Market Research, a Biological Science, Statistics, or other related field

Experience: 2+ years of Sensory, product or market research with a Consumer Goods Company or other applicable experience.

Additional Skills & Abilities:

1.            Must have working proficiency at technical writing and communication and a beginning proficiency with oral presentations and reports.

2.            Must be able to manage multiple projects with guidance from supervisor.

3.            Must have basic knowledge of sensory testing or market research.

4.            Must have ability to apply standard scientific principles and make sound scientific judgments within scope of role
