Senior Product Researcher Consumer Goods
Job Summary:
Under limited guidance, supports, coordinates and/or performs activities that evaluate consumer preferences during product development. Responsible for independently delivering on a range of activities including study design and execution, data analysis, reports and summaries, presentation of findings, and general project management. Has an advanced understanding of the core principles of sensory testing, product testing and/or market research. Applies knowledge to anticipate potential issues and propose solutions in advance. Communicates effectively with peers, management, external vendors, and professional associations. Communicates effectively with coworkers in international markets.
About the Role:
Responsibilities:
• Applies standard practices and techniques consistently using critical thinking skills to design, execute, and analyze results of sensory/consumer testing required during the development of new products while interfacing with other departments and reporting project status to supervisor. Has awareness of knowledge limitations and proactively seeks consultations from peers or supervisor on non-standard or new techniques. Routinely demonstrate ability to work in ambiguous situations, anticipates potential issues and proposes solutions in advance. Resolves medium complexity problems independently after developing and evaluating multiple alternatives. Involves supervisor for high complexity or multifunctional problems. Works independently to generates summary report, including recommendations and next steps, and presents findings to throughout the organization.
• Collaborates across R&D to build strong, productive partnerships and listens to understand partners. Consistently influence broader organization on projects & initiatives and seek alignment through utilization of numerous techniques. Routinely adapts communication method to appeal to the interest of others. Manages conflict resolution among project teams, seeking coaching from supervisor, as needed.
• Leads in activities and projects to support innovation through sensory/consumer testing on technical teams. Consistently, demonstrates openness to diverse thinking to support objectives through suggestion and/or development of alternative methods/processes/testing tools. Implements multiple changes independently among multifunctional teams and applies technical knowledge to eliminate anticipated issues.
• Demonstrates personal leadership through participation in personal development activities (i.e., trainings, professional associations, etc.), informal mentoring, and leading multifunctional projects/initiatives. Begins to share professional expertise & technical knowledge within the department.

Skills & Experience:
Experience: 3+ years
Field of Experience: Sensory, product or market research with a Consumer Goods Company or other applicable experience.
Education: Bachelor/University Degree
Education Focus: Sensory, Chemistry, Psychology, Market Research, a Biological Science
Additional Skills & Abilities:
• Must have full proficiency in technical writing and communication, including oral presentations and reports.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects independently.
• Must have an advanced understanding of the core principles of sensory testing or market research.
• Must have ability to apply standard scientific principles and make sound scientific judgments within scope of role.
