Job Summary
We’re passionate about helping our Independent Beauty Consultants grow - personally and professionally. In this role, you’ll support that mission by helping bring exciting products to life. As a Sr. Product Specialist, you’ll lead product development projects with guidance from the Product Manager (Global Product Management). You’ll contribute to global product and portfolio plans by gathering insights, analyzing pricing and competitors, and helping shape product and packaging options. You’ll also ensure clear, consistent communication with key partners and proactively identify solutions when challenges arise
About the Role
Responsibilities:
- Product Development & Portfolio Support
- Under the direction of the Manager, support the commercialization of global and regional product development projects, including new product innovation, formula updates, packaging changes, and value engineering initiatives.
- Partner cross-functionally with R&D, program management, product research, creative, legal/regulatory, and regional marketing teams to advance projects and timelines.
- Contribute to product concepts and strategies; lead execution of assigned portfolio projects.
- Support go-to-market strategies, product innovation, and activation across new and existing categories.
- Develop a strong understanding of category performance, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
- Conduct market, competitive, and sales analyses to identify opportunities and inform decisions.
- Monitor industry trends and provide actionable insights for the product portfolio.
- Lead development of new product proposals for leadership and regional teams.
- Provide direction on formulas and packaging; review and give feedback on product aesthetics.
- Partner with brand teams to create and refine product positioning.
- Recommend pricing based on competitive insights, research, and cost considerations.
- Collaborate with product research teams to define consumer research approaches (qualitative, claims testing, and clinical when needed).
- Analyze post-launch performance and incorporate field and market feedback to improve future launches.
- Identify risks, solve problems proactively, and escalate issues when needed.
- Support forecasting and promotional planning to drive sales and profitability.
- Manage project activities in Agile and use tools like Tableau and Qualtrics to generate insights.
- Provide onboarding and training support for new Product Specialists as needed.
- This job requires on-site work at our Mary Kay facilities in Addison, TX and Lewisville, TX.
What You'll Need to Be Successful
- Experience: 3+ years in product management or portfolio planning. CPG experience strongly preferred. Beauty industry experience Is a plus
- Education: Bachelor/University Degree in Business, Marketing, Strategy, Technical field, or related area
- Proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects and timelines.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence and communicate effectively across teams and leadership levels
Solid business and financial acumen with strong analytical skills
Critical thinking, problem-solving, and risk assessment capabilities
Adaptable and resilient in a fast-changing environment
Strong data analysis skills, including competitive and pricing analysis
Effective project management with a track record of meeting deadlines
Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Teams, Outlook)
Experience with Tableau, Qualtrics, or similar tools preferred
Oracle Agile experience a plus
Understanding of product portfolio management principles preferred
