Job Summary

Develops marketing content and educational tools for Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants and their customers and conducts product education events to support Mary Kay Sales Force in selling Skin Care, Sun Care, Men’s, and Body products to enhance overall productivity. Responsibilities include understanding and implementing creative strategy, writing, and project/event management to achieve business goals. Conducts product education workshops throughout the US Region to educate sales force on science, product benefits, order of application and how to market and sell new and existing Skin Care, Sun Care, Men’s, and Body products in the portfolio.

Utilizes thorough knowledge of the Mary Kay Independent Sales Force to develop support, inspire and motivate them in selling and marketing Mary Kay products. Influences and partners with internal groups to ensure marketing support and education tools are relevant and consistent. Develops, implements, and continually evaluates short- and long-term product marketing and education plans to support the Independent Sales Force. Contributes to Independent Beauty Consultant retention by ensuring the Independent Sales Force has the proper education to confidently sell products. Works with Global Product Management, Global Brand Marketing and US Marketing team to discuss best practices and adapt programs and strategies globally. Provides timely and thorough feedback from the Independent Sales Force to cross-functional partners for continuous improvement to help achieve sales growth.

1. Interprets the Marketing strategy to design, develop and implement comprehensive product education tools and content for Independent Sales Force members while also creating Sales Force and consumer facing marketing materials and interactive product usage tools. This role transforms marketing insights into valuable educational tools, that will boost Sales Force engagement and understanding of the products.

2. Serves as a field product trainer for Company and sales force events around the US as needed to educate on product ingredients and science. Develops the criteria, communication, and content for sales force events.             

3. As a product marketing and education professional, serves as an expert for US Skin Care, Sun Care, Men’s, and Body category owners, partnering to determine the strategic role products make in the portfolio to meet business needs. Interfaces with Global Product Management, Research & Development, US Sales Support and Global Brand Marketing teams to evaluate product offering and mix in alignment with the portfolio and product strategy goals. 

4. Increases Independent Sales Force income-earning potential by providing product education that gives them knowledge and confidence in the products and their ability to sell them. Partners with cross-functional partners to create enthusiasm for product launches by designing and implementing marketing and education programs to stimulate orders, sell-through ability, and retention.   

5. Establishes a strong rapport with the Independent Sales Force to ensure continued feedback regarding the effectiveness of current product marketing and education support, as well as identify additional needs. Works with the Independent Sales Force to understand barriers to selling and ordering.

6. Responsible for continually seeking opportunities to improve product marketing and education and adapting support based on those needs. Partners as a liaison with Independent Sales Force and corporate leaders to provide feedback from the field to Team US, while sharing pertinent product news from Team US to the field.             

7. This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.    

Experience:  7+ years of product marketing, education and/or development experience that includes a skin care focus. Strong knowledge of the Mary Kay independent sales force and how they function is preferred.

Education:  Bachelor/University Degree in Business, Marketing or related field or equivalent applicable experience.

Additional Skills & Abilities

1. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required to effectively communicate with Independent Sales Force members, internal partners, and top management.

2. Superior presentation skills required to position oneself as a product knowledge authority and motivate Independent Sales Force members.

3. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to make complex information, clear and consumable.

4. Critical to this position’s success is the ability to manage multiple routine projects at the same time with acute attention to detail. Must be self-sufficient and able to prioritize projects and tasks with aggressive deadlines and rapidly changing priorities.

5. Must have organizational, creative, and conceptual abilities to assist in strategically developing and implementing ideas, programs, and presentations.

6. The ideal candidate will bring integrated marketing experience with a passion for direct sales and working in a corporate environment.

7. Must have solid personal judgment, ability to identify misinformation and track disparate information is critical to keeping programs on track.

8. Position requires strong business writing skills, plus proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Computer skills, such as database searches are also important.

9. Domestic overnight travel is required up to 30% of work time to conduct workshops, sales force events, research, interview Independent Sales Force members, and attend special events and seminars.
