Job Description
With a geographically diverse and dispersed employee population in need of consistent, on-demand communications and education, the Senior Communication Developer, Digital Media and Employee Broadcasts utilizes web-based technologies, traditional media outlets and yet-to-be-developed solutions to deliver strategic communication and educational programs that support the development of Mary Kay corporate employees, as well as strengthening the Mary Kay culture and strategic initiatives around the world.
 
 
Responsibilities
 

  • Produces online videos
    • Project manages requests by the Communications, Recognition, Talent Development, Wellness and Benefits teams for video programs necessary for global communication initiatives for Mary Kay employees. Using digital cameras, viewer submitted videos, and editing software and equipment produces online videos and ensures digital files are posted online, as requested, by communications team. Leads twice a month video status meetings.
  • Project manages video upkeep of InsideMK Working with Manager, Employee Communications and senior editors project manages and assists in technical planning for Inside MK (intranet), including working with IST to upgrade the user experience for Mary Kay employees such as improving a portal and more robust interactive video experience. Posts video content as needed.
  • Project manages emerging technologies for the dissemination of videos to employees around the globe
    • Takes the lead, under supervision of Manager, Employee Communications, of investigating and bringing to fruition new programs and technologies that can deliver video programs to a global employee audience. Interacts extensively with the Mary Kay IST department to work within company guidelines and platform limitations. Works to find solutions to overcome video delivery issues associated with using Exact Target or Microsoft Outlook.
  • Project manages digital television monitor program
    • Coordinates the posting of information to employees via the digital monitor programs. Innovates the look and layout of information to ensure employees receive the best visual experience at their US locations. Incorporates video and photography as necessary. Works with vendors to troubleshoot issues with hardware or software.
  • Project manages live broadcasts
    • Collaborates with various departments, external vendors and executive leaders to produce live broadcasts via the internet. Oversees the entire technological process, ensuring set design, lighting and sound meet expectations for brand. Confirms dates of broadcasts with partners and any external vendors and acquires appropriate bids. Serves as director during live event and handles the delivery and posting of digital files in a timely manner.
  • Serves as key AV production liaison for the Employee Meeting and recognition events such as Circle of Honor
    • Partners with internal or external partners to ensure the audio/visual components of large employee events, such as the annual employee meeting and/or Circle of Honor, are flawlessly delivered. In some instances, the Senior Communication Developer may call the show onsite as a Director or may be in the AV booth serving as an advisor to those who are tasked with delivering the AV show.
  • Project manages the uploading of audio and video files to Stream or Brightcove’s global server, as well as creating private Employee Communication digital storage solutions.
    • Working in collaboration with Editors and Writers, ensures digital video files produced are uploaded and that Stream or Brightcove links are created and provided as needed. Creates a digital Communications team storage library for easy access to photography files for communication projects.
  • This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.

Skills & Experience 
Experience: 5+ years
Education: Bachelor/University Degree  in communications, journalism, digital or emerging media. Advanced degrees, professional designations and certifications desired.
 
 

  • Must have demonstrated the ability to create and maintain an Internet-based Web site. Requires strong technical knowledge in internet-based computer applications with knowledge of HTML, Advanced HTML, Front Page, Flash, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Acrobat, and Authorware.
  • Requires demonstrated ability to create and edit videos using cameras and the following edit suite programs:
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills required.
  • Strong project management skills to conceive, define, implement and evaluate projects.
  • Strong analytical abilities required
  • Requires superior time management and multitasking skills.
  • Domestic overnight travel 10%, may be required to attend Company events, Seminars, assist members of the independent sales force or to attend training as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
