Training Specialist
Job Summary
The Training Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation and management of our training programs. This role will be responsible for handling technical tasks related to the learning management system (LMS), managing the training calendar, planning and executing training session logistics, and creating or facilitating short training sessions.
About the Role
Responsibilities:
- Learning System Administration & Optimization
- Manages and administers the Learning Management System (LMS) to support enterprise learning strategies and ensure a seamless user experience.
- Collaborates with Talent Development partners to curate and deploy targeted learning experiences for various employee groups.
- Applies best practices in access management and system functionality to ensure good user experiences.
- Learning Enablement & Support
- Serves as a subject matter expert for LMS functionality, providing guidance and training to local and global administrators across HR and business units.
- Facilitates regular training sessions about system updates to ensure alignment and capability across the administrator network.
- Acts as the primary point of contact for LMS-related inquiries, resolving issues independently and escalating complex cases to HR Technology as needed.
- Content & Vendor Management
- Manages relationships with external learning content providers (e.g., FranklinCovey, OpenSesame), including content integration, delivery format recommendations, and performance tracking.
- Oversees the technical setup of off-the-shelf and custom learning content, ensuring compatibility and optimal learner experience.
- Learning Communications & Engagement
- Designs and distributes branded learning communications using tools such as Marketing Cloud, including automated journeys and targeted campaigns.
- Partners with Talent Development to align messaging with learning priorities and promote key programs like Course of the Month and New Leader Onboarding.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Builds and maintains dashboards and custom reports to track participation, engagement, and ROI of learning programs.
- Analyzes and provides data insights to support decision-making and accountability across HR and business stakeholders.
- Program & Experience Support
- Supports the execution of enterprise learning programs such as New Employee Orientation and New Leader Onboarding, ensuring system readiness and learner access.
- Designs microlearning and digital content using curriculum design tools (e.g. Simon). Collaborates with subject matter experts regarding content of training.
- Operational Support
- Coordinates logistics for training sessions, including scheduling, materials preparation, and system setup.
- Administers the tuition reimbursement program, including user support, budget tracking, and process management.
- Manages Talent Development budget.
- This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.
Skills & Experience
Experience: 1+ years of experience in LMS, Technology Support, Customer Service, Training, Learning and Development.
Education: Bachelor/University Degree in Education, Systems, Human Resources
Additional Skills & Abilities:
- An ability to quickly learn learning systems and technical programming required to administer such systems; a working knowledge of business and human resources principles as well as some basic theories and principles within the area of learning, training and curriculum design. Ability to ask questions to clarify business needs and build processes, tools or solutions that meet these needs.
- Knowledgeable of SCORM-compliant courseware and other learning related standards.
- Knowledge or experience with content authoring tools like Articulate, PowToon, Captivate.
- Knowledge or experience with Communities and other technology that creates collaborative opportunities like SharePoint.
- Knowledge or experience with Marketing Cloud that pushes single or multiple emails in a journey.
- Must be able to advise groups and/or specific individuals in core subject matter expertise such as using the LMS, the value and benefits of participating in specific learning programs, etc.; serves as a subject matter expert and educator around the LMS and other technology relative to learning.
- Demonstrated strength in interpreting data, identifying themes and translating themes into recommendations that are meaningful. Ability to use relevant metrics to track program effectiveness.
- Develops strong and trusting relationships with internal clients that are sustained over time; a role model of the culture and values, HR programs, practices and principles. Encourages and listens to feedback from the team, internal customers and works collaboratively to find win-win solutions.
- Ability to facilitate discussions with various audiences regarding technical capabilities or processes.
- Leadership skills to organize and manage a complex project and numerous commitments to internal clients.
