Mary Kay interns participate in activities that introduce them to our people centered culture, our products, and the Independent Sales Force.

The Opportunity We Provide: 

Mary Kay has a technologically advanced manufacturing facility in Lewisville, TX. We manufacture skincare and cosmetics in a high-volume environment with a focus on uncompromising quality, maximum operational efficiency, and responsiveness to changes in customer needs and consumer desires.  Our highly accomplished team includes engineers, mechanics, operational leads, buyers, inspectors and other manufacturing disciplines. 

The Package Operations Intern Will Work on The Following:

  1. Changeover Process Optimization:
    • Assist in the optimization of changeover processes to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
    • Collaborate with the team to create step-by-step procedures for changeovers, ensuring they are clear, standardized, and easy to follow.
    • Help in the optimization of changeover carts to streamline the process and improve workflow.
  2. Sustainment of Processes:
    • Ensure the sustainment of optimized changeover processes by developing and maintaining documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Monitor the effectiveness of implemented processes and suggest adjustments as necessary for continuous improvement.
  3. Utilization of Continuous Improvement Tools:
    • Leverage continuous improvement methodologies, such as Kaizen, PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act), and RCA (Root Cause Analysis), to identify opportunities for process enhancements.
    • Assist in applying these tools to drive improvements across various aspects of the packaging operation.
  4. Implementation of Digital and Continuous Improvement Tools:
    • Support the implementation of digital tools and technologies to enhance the changeover process.
    • Assist in incorporating continuous improvement practices and technologies into day-to-day operations.
  5. Process and Procedure Review:
    • Review existing packaging processes and procedures to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
    • Work with the team to revise and update current procedures based on findings and improvement opportunities.
  6. Development of Floor Training:
    • Develop training materials and provide on-the-floor training to employees, ensuring they are well-versed in new changeover procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Support team members in adopting new processes and technologies to ensure smooth transitions.
  7. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Attend cross-functional meetings to collaborate with teams from other departments and gain insights into process challenges and improvement opportunities.
    • Contribute to the implementation of additional process improvements identified through collaboration.
  8. Technology and Business Transformation:
    • Utilize emerging technologies to transform the changeover process and contribute to overall business optimization.
    • Play an active role in identifying how technology can support and accelerate the changeover process, improving both productivity and operational effectiveness.
  9. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Maintain detailed records of changeover optimizations, continuous improvement efforts, and training activities.
    • Provide regular reports on the progress of changeover improvements and the impact on overall performance metrics.
  10. Opportunity for Impact:

Strong intern candidates will have:

  • Eager to learn and work with various departments in the company
  • Ability to multitask
  • Project Management skills (preferred but not required)
  • Background or familiarity with TPM
  • Statistical analysis (preferred but not required)
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite

 

Minimum Qualifications:

· Must still be currently pursuing undergraduate or master’s degree

· To be eligible you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (undergraduate) or part time (graduate) as defined by your university at the time of application.

· Minimum Sophomore status. Rising juniors or seniors preferred.

· Preferred Degrees: Engineering

Summer Program Details:

  • The Mary Kay 2024 Summer Intern Program is a 10-week internship from June 4th- August 15th  
  • All our internships are paid, starting at $20/ hour
  • Our internships are Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, and require you to be in the office 4-5 days per week
  • Our internships are located at our Global Headquarters in Addison, TX or Manufacturing/ R&D Facility in Lewisville, TX
  • Interns will receive any required equipment, such as a laptop
