Job Summary

The Communications Specialist supports the U.S. Channels team by writing copy as directed by Manager, assisting with membership and engagement for the My Mary Kay Facebook group adding/terminating members and replying to comments and questions, coordinating sales force outreach for testimonials and stories, assisting with MK News posts and other tasks as needed.

About the Role

Responsibilities:

  • At direction of Channels Manager and Copywriter, writes copy for U.S. Channels that include:
    • Directors Memo/National News Notes/IBC Email.
    • WYNK (What You Need to Know) emails: Writes two of the four WYNK emails per month. Works with Creative team to find the correct image to include (in both English and Spanish) to correspond with each story. Works with the InTouch team to get links for each story to link more information.
    • Applause: Assists Copywriter in creation of the monthly calendar, Trending and other pages as assigned.
  • With guidance from Channels Manager, proofreads and copy edits all channels as needed to ensure accuracy, consistency and clarity.
  • Assists Senior Social Media Specialist with membership, terminations and engagement on the My Mary Kay Facebook group. Helps with development of monthly calendars and concepts for posts, as well as job trafficking and scheduling posts.
  • At direction of Channels Manager, identifies, acquires approvals of, and interviews Mary kay Independent Sales Directors for quotes and testimonials to be included in publications.
  • Assists with posting MK News articles in both English and Spanish as needed.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the U.S. Marketing Communications team and the Company by providing support as special events, as well as supporting special projects with writing and editing as needed. Participates in Seminar and other company-sponsored events.
  • This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.

Skills & Experience

Experience: 1+ years

Education: Bachelor/University Degree in Journalism or Communications

Additional Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with sales force members and employees at all levels.
  • Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills.
  • Excellent organizational and conceptual abilities in order to manage, schedule, prioritize projects.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment in order to meet established timelines.
  • Ability to work independently upon receiving direction.
  • Must have excellent PC skills and be highly proficient with MS Word.
