Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
 
Education:    Master’s degree in Library/Information Science or Information Studies from an American Libraries Association accredited program or equivalent, plus
 
Experience:  3-5 years of relevant work experience in a corporate information center or other research-oriented technical and scientific department, preferably in collaboration with a competitive intelligence team.
 
1. Must be able to respond effectively to research requests, demonstrating investigative and analytical skills, as well as perseverance in locating obscure information; must have experience using multiple specialty business, scientific, news, legal and other multidisciplinary databases in order to perform information searches.
 
2. Must be confident and able to interact with knowledge workers at different levels in the organization in a variety of functions.
 
3. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to build cooperative, productive relationships with internal clients.
 
4. Must exhibit a natural curiosity to acquire a firm grasp of the organization and its environment. Must become knowledgeable about the organization, its markets and its products in order to interpret information in the context of a specific company situation.
 
5. Must possess research and analysis skills, project management and collaborative skills, as well as written communication skills.
 
6. Time management and organizational skills are essential. Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
 
7. Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, team-oriented, flexible and able to work independently and as part of a team.
 
8. Demonstrated ability to digest information in context and to look at market, financial, company, technology and scientific, legal, intellectual property, personal/biographical and other types of information and pull them together to create a total picture of the organization’s competitive landscape, in the context of a specific challenge or opportunity.
 
9. Must be able to communicate clearly and move deliverables up the value chain. Willing to analyze data and information, offer opinion and synthesize facts and findings into strategies and actions.
 
10. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and familiar with PowerPoint software.
