 JOB PURPOSE  

Responsible for overseeing executive speech writing and communication-based video script writing to support U.S. region marketing and sales objectives. Contributes to the strategic content creation of integrated marketing and sales communications across all channels for all audience segments of the U.S. based Mary Kay independent sales force. Partners with the crisis communication team in planning and execution of urgent and sensitive communications. Conceptualizes and writes original communication and marketing content for US market specific business initiatives, focusing on technology and business updates. Functions within a fast-paced communication environment, often working independently, while demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of business goals and objectives.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   

·         Crafts impactful speeches, video messages, talking points and tailored messages that communicate Company initiatives. Works closely with leadership team to create compelling content for videos and event speeches. Writes and edits videos and speeches, ensuring the tone and message align with the company’s vision and objectives. Collaborates closely with leaders to understand their personal style. Adapts communication styles to the diverse sales force audiences, ensuring clear, concise and engaging content. Provides real-time feedback and revisions during recordings and rehearsals.

·         Partners with the crisis communications team to plan, develop and implement strategies for crisis communications (issues that may affect the momentum of the independent sales force). This includes creating crisis strategy, communication pieces, posting on the sales force website (InTouch), Verbal Response Statements and Written Response Statements. Partners with and serves as back up for Sr. Managing Editor, and is available for month-end crisis communication.

·         IST & US market specific business initiatives writing section. Serves as the communication expert for technology updates initiated by the IT department that affect the sales force and how they do business. Partners with IT experts to communicate technology changes clearly and effectively.

·         Assists with other communication content needs, such as writing for communication channels and presentations when needed.

·         May attend sales force events to oversee executive speeches and serve as staff support as needed.

·         This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

Education – Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, advertising or equivalent experience

Experience – 5+ years experience in communications, writing, journalism, marketing and/or advertising

·         Must have a thorough knowledge of speech-writing techniques, creative writing approaches, English and grammar. Must be able to adapt writing style to a variety of audiences. Must be able to synthesize vast amounts of information from a variety of sources to arrive at the key marketing messages.

·         Must have excellent project management skills to adapt quickly and effectively to changing priorities and needs.

·         Requires ability to motivate and influence through communication; ability to work in team environment; ability to evaluate internal direction in terms of objectives and purpose ms. Must be able to work on several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Must be able to keep an open mind when it comes to input from others and maintain flexibility in consolidating multiple points of view.

·         Must possess excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Must be very detail oriented and have the discernment to be factually accurate.

·         Based on the crisis communications aspect of this position, must be willing to occasionally work on weekends and after hours.

·         Must have good working knowledge of content software (preferably MS Word, Grammarly and InCopy) and PowerPoint to prepare articles, presentations, etc. Experience using Workfront is desirable. Knowledge of AP Style preferred.

·         Excellent presentation skills are required to interact with Team US personnel in the development of communication strategies, scripts and materials.
