 JOB PURPOSE  

Manages the development of long and short-term strategies for assigned recognition programs, as well as special new contests to meet current needs of the independent sales force. Determines forecasts and budgets for programs based on historical data, sales and recruiting trends, etc. and analyzes program results to determine effectiveness and to develop future programs. Examples of promotions they might own: Apparel Program, Career Path/Team Builder rewards, team building promotions, unit level programs (i.e. Gold Medal, Director Order Sheet) and new Sales Director programs. Assists in other recognition programs as needed, including yearlong, quarterly and monthly contests. Collaborates with the event team to ensure the implementation of planned recognition at the following corporate events: Leadership Conference, Career Conference, Seminar, and other significant event programs.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   

·         Develops tactical plans for all aspects of assigned Sales Force Recognition Programs for the Independent Sales Force. Determines how to distinguish different levels of the Independent Sales Force utilizing rewards and incentives. Keeps abreast of other company efforts and opportunities to maximize effectiveness of recognition programs. Makes recommendations to department leadership regarding new or updated program changes and enhancements. Presents to Managers as necessary. Participates as a contributor to the strategic planning process for recognition program objectives, program development, establishment of themes, creative designs, etc.

·         Manages the development and implementation of awards.

o   Provides direction to Indirect Procurement to source merchandise. Reviews and approves items submitted. Presents potential rewards to management, where applicable.

o   Establishes budgets for all recognition programs and presents to department and division leadership for review. Monitors established budgets once approved.

o   Monitors winners reports to continually track and forecast winners. Analyzes end of contest period results to determine effectiveness of recognition program and makes recommendations for improvement.

o   Provides direction to IST regarding reporting program requirements and monitors reports to ensure accuracy.

o   Interfaces with all levels of the Independent Sales Force to determine specific needs, address specific issues, determine effectiveness of programs and to receive input as to the level of satisfaction of all program elements. Responds to non-routine and complex inquiries from Independent Sales Force members and other departments offering direction and/or solutions to problems. Communicates with Independent Sales Force to gather new ideas, understand how programs are used at the unit level and to gauge how effectively established programs help build their business. Uses knowledge to recommend changes and/or additions to programs offered through Sales Force Recognition.

·         Develops ideas, concepts, rule structures, program qualifiers, content, creative approach, program themes, target audience and provides direction for collateral materials and communications for each recognition program.

·         Forecasts participant and merchandise quantities for recognition programs based on historical performance, current sales and recruiting trends, expected participation percentages and types of merchandise offered to establish budgets, inventory and program support.

·         Manages the development and implementation of support materials. Gives direction to Communication teams to create printed support materials, such as strategy sheets, tracking posters, etc. Approves final designs, layouts, copy and photography. Responsible for effective promotion of each program through publications and Company events.

·         Uses broad knowledge of how incentive programs are linked globally with a focus on our Canadian partners to analyze plans to re-vamp incentive and/or recognition programs, know who is impacted and who is on what program, program differences and similarities, etc. Considers Independent Sales Force members’ emotions and investment in current programs.

·         Represents Sales Force Recognition department regarding recognition and incentive programs at all Special Events, determining the support materials, merchandise and communications that are required for the Independent Sales Force.

·         This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

Education – Bachelors Degree in marketing or a related field

Experience – 5+ years of experience

·         Knowledge of the direct sales industry, including an understanding of sales and what motivates an Independent Sales Force member and how they function is highly preferred

·         Product development and apparel experience is highly preferred.

·         Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred.

·         Must have creative and conceptual abilities to develop and implement new recognition and promotional campaigns and to create or select prizes and promotional items that excite and motivate the Independent Sales Force.

·         Must be detailed and organized to coordinate and manage multiple projects.

·         Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required to interface and effectively communicate with individuals at all levels within the organization, including NSDs and Top Directors in the Independent Sales Force and serve as the second level of customer service support.

·         Must have excellent creative, written and presentation skills to successfully develop and communicate recognition programs and present to management.

·         Strong PC skills are required, including proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook.
