Job Purpose

Working independently, deliver accurate and timely financial, operational, and management reporting for the Asia Pacific Region to Asia Pacific regional and subsidiary management teams.  Engages directly with subsidiary management to assure accounting, reporting and controls are maintained in accordance with US GAAP and company policies.  Manages tight timelines and a broad range of reporting, forecasting, and analytical activities to support data driven decision-making. Provides accounting support for discontinued operations.

Strong judgement, expertise and communication skills required to analyze, interpret, and present complex data and business recommendations to Asia Pacific Region management at all levels.  Serve as business partner advising on finance topics for subsidiary leadership, Region Team, and corporate partners.   Advocates on behalf of Asia Pacific Region interests when interfacing with corporate partners.  Provides guidance and training to less experienced team members.

Responsibilities

  1. Collect and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the Asia Pacific region.  Ensure complete and timely reporting of financial data.  Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policy.  Prepare internal management reporting and analysis for executive and region leadership.
  2. Provide forecasting templates, tools, and guidance to support the Rolling Forecast process.  Prepare Asia Pacific Region forecast reporting and analysis and track progress toward regional goals and objectives
  3. Conduct analysis of key performance data to highlight issues and trends, identify key drivers and relationships. 
  4. Assist in the analysis of proposed major Region and Country Sales and Marketing programs, vet assumptions, and identify risks to meeting program objectives.
  5. Produce monthly management reports with variance explanation, highlighting performance of key business indicators.
  6. Provide assistance and training to subsidiary finance personnel in developing reports using reporting systems.  Support subsidiary GMs/Country Leaders when vacancies occur in the local Finance Manager/Leader role due to terminations, absences, or employee transitions.
  7. Work directly with the markets in the implementation of the region and company KPIs and guide them closely to ensure that they are using KPIs as a management tool in attaining their goals.  Respond to questions on KPIs and provide training to the markets.  Create new and insightful KPI reporting.
  8. Provide support for the implementation and ongoing utilization of Global ERP systems (JD Edwards), and reporting systems (HFM and Hyperion) throughout the Asia Pacific region.
  9. Partner with the International Tax department and subsidiary Finance Managers to assure timely and accurate filing of statutory accounts and tax filings.
  10. Monitor controls in place to ensure applicable GAAP and local reporting requirements are met and help market finance departments remediate gaps identified. These reviews/governance areas would include, but not be limited to evaluating processes for month end closing, consolidations, tax accounting, inventory accounting, all forms of Sales Force sales and compensation accounting, reporting processes, developing training modules, training staff, etc. 
  11. Follow up on internal and external audit recommendations and findings to ensure corrective actions are implemented timely.
  12. Provides accounting guidance and assists in the monthly close process for discontinued operations. 
  13. 10-20% International travel to market and/or region office may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Master’s degree and CPA/CFA is preferred.

Experience: 5 years of general accounting, financial reporting and/or audit experience.  Prior experience with integrated financial and operating systems required

Language: Mandarin Chinese language strongly skills preferred.

  • Utilize courtesy and tact in interactions with Market Teams in the exchange of information and while providing instruction and guidance.
  • Experience in international accounting is preferred in addition to or in conjunction with experience in public accounting.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as customer services skills.  Must be culturally sensitive.  Must be comfortable with regularly completing conference calls with international contacts while being sensitive to time differences and language skills.
  • Strong Analytics skills, strong expertise with Excel and/or Tableau to produce data analysis.
  • Must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills to be able to work independently, resolve problems, and coordinate resolutions with other departments and international subsidiaries.  Must be self-motivated and able to independently manage projects against internal and external deadlines.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements that increase operational efficiency.
  • Must have a high degree of competency in report development, analytical system functionality, and system controls in order to effectively participate in system implementations, upgrades, enhance analytical reporting capabilities, establish accounting internal controls, review financial reports and develop accounting system requirements
  • Exposure to JDE and HFM is preferred.
